Nearly 400 People of Faith Nationwide Call Kavanaugh Nomination Threat to Democracy

Washington, D.C. — Nearly 400 faith leaders across the country organized by Faith in Public Life have issued a moral declaration that the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court poses a threat to our democracy. As Kavanaugh’s supporters attempt to rush his confirmation despite serious allegations of sexual assault and his troubling record on everything from voting rights to executive power, faith leaders are calling on senators to vote “no” on his nomination based on his record. Americans deserve a Supreme Court justice committed to protecting democracy for all.

A quote from the statement:

“We need a justice who rules with justice, protecting the people that our faiths call us to side with: our neighbors who are sick, who are poor, who are beaten down, who are disenfranchised. Kavanaugh’s record does not suggest that he will rule with this kind of justice. We call on all U.S. senators to exercise wisdom and vote no on Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.”
