National Faith Leader Commends House Vote on Impeachment

Washington, D.C. — The House of Representatives voted to impeach President Trump today for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The articles of impeachment will now move to the Senate, where there will be a trial on his removal from office.

Over 700 faith leaders from across the nation have signed a letter calling on the House of Representatives to impeach the president. You can read the letter and see the signatories here.

Rev. Jennifer Butler, CEO, Faith in Public Life (Washington, DC):

“I thank God that the majority of the House of Representatives fulfilled their oath to defend the constitution and our democracy today. By holding the president accountable for abusing his power, they showed moral courage at a moment of moral crisis. No one is above the law, and our values of love of neighbor and human dignity flourish best when democracy is strong.”
