National Faith Leader Applauds Major Evangelical Adoption Agency Beginning Service to LGBTQ Parents

Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, one of the country’s largest Christian adoption and foster care agencies, Bethany Christian Services, announced that it will begin providing services to LGBTQ parents nationwide.

Rev. Jennifer Butler, CEO of Faith in Public Life:

“I’m so grateful that Bethany Christian Services has officially chosen to place children into stable homes with loving, committed gay and lesbian parents. They are demonstrating that we can both live in faith and serve the public. This decision will have a life-changing impact for so many families. More children will spend more time in a safe, nurturing environment that allows them to thrive.

I pray that every agency that currently discriminates against LGBTQ families in foster care and adoption services will follow Bethany’s example. Discrimination against families with gay and lesbian parents only brings pain. Good parenting is about caring and commitment, not sexual orientation. It’s about making lunches, changing diapers, bedtime prayers and so much more. People of faith will continue to work and pray until discrimination is no longer a barrier to forming a family.”
