American Health Care Act Passes House; Rev. Jennifer Butler Statement

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The US House of Representatives just passed the American Health Care Act (AHCA), a replacement for the Affordable Care Act, by a vote of 217-213. The legislation moves to the Senate which is expected to change it dramatically.

Rev. Jennifer Butler, CEO of Faith in Public Life:

“This death care bill is a moral outrage. It strips away health care from vulnerable Americans, many of which are low wage workers, the disabled, the elderly, the mentally ill, children, those Scripture tells us to care for first. The lives of our congregants, family members, neighbors and friends depend on access to affordable and equitable coverage. If this immoral bill becomes law, millions of Americans will lose their insurance or pay more for lesser coverage. I pray that the Senate will veto this bill.”
