Patients, Clergy Leaders to Hold Prayer Vigil at Clarkston Community Health Center on World Diabetes Day to Demand Action on Affordable Insulin
Clarkston, Ga. — On Thursday, November 14th at 11 a.m., Faith in Public Life will join advocacy groups, faith leaders and people impacted by diabetes at a prayer to elevate the moral imperative of addressing the insulin cost crisis on World Diabetes Day.
The event will emphasize the need for elected officials to take action in Congress to make insulin and other widely used prescription medicines more affordable by empowering the government to negotiate for lower drug prices on behalf of patients and passing other bold reforms to stop Big Pharma’s price gouging.
Although insulin has been in use since 1922, prescription drug corporations have tripled the cost of popular types of insulin over the last decade, increasing the price of some by as much as 800 percent. Speakers will call on Rep. Hank Johnson to share his position on policies to lower drug prices now.
