New Report: Faith in Public Life Interim CEO Calls for Action on Voting Access

Washington, DC – A new report shows that federal agencies need to make more progress in implementingPresident Biden’s 2021 voting access Executive Order.

Jeanné Lewis, Interim CEO of Faith in Public Life

“The findings in this report are clear. Most federal agencies are failing in their implementation of the voting access executive order signed by President Biden two years ago. Faith in Public Life, representing faith leaders around the country, is proud to join a coalition of 100 national organizations to strongly urge the leaders of all federal agencies to fulfill their moral responsibility in implementing this executive order so everyone’s voice can be heard and that we have a government that reflects the will of the majority of people.

I believe voting is a sacred act. For generations people of faith have organized, worked, sacrificed and prayed so that everyone could have access to vote in free, fair and safe elections. Unfortunately, this freedom we hold so close is, yet again, under attack. From state legislatures across the country making it more difficult for people to vote, to the Supreme Court gutting the Voting Rights Act, people’s voices are being silenced. People in power at all federal agencies must be diligent in upholding their moral duty in protecting our freedom to vote. Together, we can continue to build the multi-faith, multiracial democracy we envision. Our faith demands it and we deserve it.”
