National Faith Leader Denounces Trump Anti-Immigrant Executive Order
Washington, D.C. — The Trump administration announced an executive order extending the ban of green cards issued outside the United States and dramatically limiting the extent and number of work visas.
Rev. Jennifer Butler, CEO, Faith in Public Life:
“As a pastor, I’m called to proclaim the dignity of all people, regardless of where they are born. This order is another cruel example of this administration’s bigotry. As COVID-19 continues to surge, President Trump creates more problems instead of working to resolve the pandemic still gripping the nation.
When the president feels weak, he turns again to his racist bag of tricks. From stopping asylum seekers at the border to attempting to end DACA and deport DACA recipients, his administration has been stained by attempts to end immigration in the interest of preserving white supremacy. America becomes stronger when we welcome and value our immigrant family rather than rejecting them.”
