FAITH PARTNERS OF THE OHIO VOTER RIGHTS COALITION
TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST STATE BILLS TO RESTRICT VOTER ACCESS, SILENCE PROTESTS, SABOTAGE FAIR REDISTRICTING

Leaders from Faith in Public Life Ohio, Ohio Council of Churches, Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, ACLU of Ohio, League of Women Voters of Ohio, and The Freedom BLOC will speak out against state attacks on democracy and offer solutions for fighting back

Columbus, OH— On Thursday, June 24th at 7 p.m. ET, Ohio Voter Rights Coalition faith partners, from across the state, will gather to speak out against proposed bills in Columbus to restrict voting access including measures like eliminating the use of ballot drop boxes 10 days before an election and cutting early voting hours, particularly disenfranchising Black voters (HB294), as well as an online voter registration measure that would exclude people of color, people with disabilities, the elderly, and others by requiring that they have an Ohio ID or driver’s license to register (HB41). Faith leaders will also demand an end to several bills that would silence protestors and equate those who engage in civil disobedience to terrorists (HB22, HB109). Leaders will also offer solutions for fighting back, including ensuring a fair redistricting process that will ensure accurate representation of Ohioans in the state legislature and in Congress.
