Charlotte Faith and Community Leaders Led a “New Year’s Prayer Circle” for Mayor Vi Lyles and City Leaders

CHARLOTTE, NC — On Thursday, January 4th, a prominent group of faith and community leaders prayed at the Mecklenburg County Government Offices for the newly elected Mayor Vi Lyles and  other city leaders.

Following a year of social unrest, hate crimes motivated by political division and the lack of economic stability, religious and community leaders will pray for peace, unity and a commitment to inclusion for all of Charlotte’s residents during the first week of 2017.

Pastor Russ Dean, Park Road Baptist Church:

“My prayer for the City of Charlotte in 2018 is that leaders of our beautifully-diverse faith communities would draw on the call to love God and one another, a call that is common to all religions, and in that unity we might reach out to civic leaders and business leaders, leaders in education and commerce and entertainment, and to all citizens of goodwill, and that together we might find enough common cause, to join hands in making 2018 a year of “liberty and justice for all.”
