Catholic Faith Leader Joins Over 200 Civil Rights Leaders Arrested for the Passage of a Clean Dream Act

WASHINGTON, D.C.  — On Wednesday, December 6th, Sara Benitez, Latino Program Director at Faith in Public Life, was arrested on the steps of the U.S. Capitol with over 200 community members to call on Congress to pass a clean Dream Act.

“I risked arrest on the Capitol steps today because my faith calls me to love my neighbor. Today my immigrant neighbors, who have DACA and TPS, are in danger of being separated from their families and their communities. I am calling on Congress to live up to our nation’s values of fairness by passing a clean Dream Act and protecting TPS holders. I call on all people of faith and good will to call their members of Congress and ask them to pass a clean Dream Act and protect Temporary Protected Status by the end of this year.”
