Ahead of Census Day, Over 100 Faith Groups Call on all Communities to Complete the 2020 Census

Washington, D.C. — Over 100 faith-based organizations have signed a national petition calling for all communities to complete the 2020 Census and be counted as an act of faith. On April 1st, our nation will celebrate Census Day, to mark the 2020 Census.

In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, people of faith remain committed to a faithful census that counts all communities, ensuring that everyone gets the resources and representation they deserve. The census count determines funding for hospitals, schools and roads, as well as critical programs like affordable housing, Head Start, food assistance and more. People can respond immediately to the 2020 Census online at 2020census.gov, by mail, and phone.

“As houses of worship and faith-based organizations from diverse traditions, we affirm the right of all people to participate in the 2020 Census,” the letter states. “A full and accurate count lays the foundation for a healthy democracy and healthy communities.”
