Theologian in Residence

Dora serves as the Theologian in Residence at Faith in Public Life.
She is responsible for helping Faith in Public Life think theologically about our work, articulating a theology of change that reflects the intersections of religious traditions, supporting the training of coalition and cohort members around messaging and organizing within multi-faith frameworks, advising staff members on external communications and campaign tactics to accurately reflect our shared theology across faith traditions, and representing FPL in multi-faith spaces in ways that deepen and advance our commitment and practice of being a multi-faith organization. Dora passionately synthesizes more than 25 years of experience leading public policy formation, community organizing, and multimedia messaging. Previous to her current role, she served as Faith in Public Life’s Senior Director of Coalitions and Campaigns. Prior to joining our team, she served as the inaugural Associate Director of Faith Engagement at Planned Parenthood, and Engagement Director at the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy. She leads The AWARE Project (Advocacy for Women’s Activism, Rights & Empowerment), and sits on the Program Board for the Institute of Caribbean Studies as its Ambassador to Women. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Documentary Photography; a Master of Public Administration; and is a doctoral candidate in public administration. She also holds a Certificate in Ministry and Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary and completed international law and human rights studies at the University of London. A native New Yorker born to immigrant parents from the Caribbean, Dora resides in Virginia.
