MEDIA AVAILABILITY: Catholic Bishop Mark J. Seitz Available for Comment on Impact of Trump Administration’s Immoral Immigration Policies

El Paso, Texas -- El Paso's Catholic bishop, Mark J. Seitz, is challenging the Trump administration to stop its increasingly aggressive deportation regime and calling out attorney generals in several states.

The bishop recently described the Texas attorney general as a modern-day Pharisee after he and 10 other attorney generals threatened to sue the federal government if it didn't phase out Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, an Obama-era program that offers protection to immigrants brought to the United States as children.

Bishop Seitz is also scheduled to release a pastoral letter on migration and the border on Tuesday, July 18th.

Bishop Mark J. Seitz, El Paso:

“As a pastor on the border, I witness the pain of mothers and fathers being torn from the arms of their children. I urge our elected leaders to stop the inhumane and immoral assault on immigrant communities. We have militarized the border at tremendous financial costs, but we must never forget the profound human costs at stake. It's time to fix our broken immigration system and put human dignity before partisan agendas.”
