National Faith Leader Applauds Articles of Impeachment

1,400 Faith Leaders Call for Courage & Truth in Impeachment Proceedings

Washington, D.C. -- The House Judiciary Committee published articles of impeachment today against President Trump for his attempt to subvert the 2020 election by pressuring Ukraine to smear his political rival, and for obstructing Congress as they investigate this crime.

Over 1,400 faith leaders from across the nation have signed a moral declaration demanding that Members of Congress follow the truth wherever it leads during impeachment proceedings against President Trump. You can read the letter and see the signatories here.

Rev. Jennifer Butler, CEO, Faith in Public Life (Washington, DC):

“At a moment of moral crisis for our nation, these articles of impeachment are a firm reminder that no one is above the law -- especially the president. Democracy safeguards our values of love of neighbor and human dignity. I’m glad to see Congress take steps to fulfill its moral and constitutional responsibility to defend our democracy from presidential abuse of power and foreign interference. I pray that Members of Congress have the courage and integrity to hold the president accountable for abusing the powers of his office rather than defending the common good.”
