National Faith Leader Denounces Discriminatory Ruling on Trans Health Care Rights

Washington, D.C. -- A Texas judge ruled that health care providers and insurers can discriminate based on gender identity and whether someone is transgender. This ruling  overturns a Department of Health and Human Services regulation which banned discrimination on these bases.

Rev. Jennifer Butler, CEO, Faith in Public Life:

"Our transgender family has God-given dignity and deserve respect and access to the care they need. This immoral ruling denies transgender people necessary care, putting their lives at risk. My faith teaches me that every person is precious. Our laws must protect trans lives."
