National Faith Leader Denounces Trump Administration’s Food Assistance Restrictions

Washington, D.C. -- The Trump administration announced a rule change which would make it more difficult for people to receive SNAP food assistance (food stamps). Hundreds of thousands of people will likely lose food aid starting in April 2020.

Rev. Jennifer Butler, CEO, Faith in Public Life (Washington, DC):

“A core principle of my faith is to care for hungry people. As a pastor, I know my community has a responsibility to feed and care for struggling families but we can’t do that alone - the federal government is a vital piece of the puzzle. These latest additions to red tape will cause more kids to go hungry and more seniors to skip meals. That is immoral and unjust.”
