Kia Smith is a communications and non-profit executive who serves as Senior Director of Communications at Faith in Public Life. Passionate about telling stories that provoke thought, establish connections, and achieve results, Kia oversees a team of strategic communicators, develops communications and digital strategy and ensures faith leaders are resourced with faith-based and culturally competent messaging to advocate for just and equitable policies.

Over the past 20 years, Kia has worked in a variety of digital, communications and public relations positions. Prior to joining the Faith in Public Life team, she worked with Caring Across Generations, Spelman College and a number of faith-based and media organizations. Kia earned a B.A. in English from Spelman College and graduated from Kennesaw State University with an M.A. in Professional Writing. She is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary. When she’s not reading, writing, working and studying, she enjoys live music, good food and spending time with her kid, Cameron.
