Prominent Coalition of Interfaith Florida Clergy Talk Solutions at Criminal Justice Reform Summit

Jacksonville, FL -- On Thursday, August 4th, a prominent coalition of Florida faith leaders convened at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Jacksonville for a summit on criminal justice reform. Local clergy discussed the irreversible effects of the death penalty, the urgent need to restore voting rights for returning citizens, ways to dismantle the school to prison pipeline, and Florida’s direct file system that allows many juveniles to be unfairly tried as adults.

Rev. Reginald Gundy, Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist Church

“Our criminal justice system needs deep reform in order to truly keep us safe and promote liberty and justice for all. We all deserve to live in a safe community, but the death penalty does not make us more safe; if it did, Jacksonville would be the safest place in the world. We need to focus on what really works.”
