MEDIA AVAILABILITY: OH Faith Leaders Call on Mayor Ginther to Keep Columbus Safe


Columbus, OH --  On Wednesday, June 5th at 3 p.m., faith and community leaders will gather at City Hall for to provide comments during a community forum on Columbus Community Safety Advisory Commission. Faith and community leaders will call on the Mayor to make the Columbus Police Department more equitable and efficient at keeping everyone in every neighborhood safe. The Community Safety Commission, created because of community pressure, is nearing the end of its term. They are holding a meeting to receive public comments on June 5th. 
 

In November 2017, Mayor Ginther presented an overhauled safety strategy for Columbus, among greater commitments to crisis intervention training and implicit bias training, a Community Safety Commission was created. Faith in Public Life's board member, Pastor Jason Ridley, is on this commission. They will publish a report by the end of summer.
