Prominent Coalition of Interfaith Fla. Clergy Convene for Ciminal Justice Summit on Aug. 4th

Jacksonville, FL -- On Thursday, August 4th, a prominent coalition of Florida faith leaders will convene at the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville for a summit on criminal justice reform. Topics of discussion will include: the death penalty, restoration of voting rights, the school to prison pipeline, and Florida’s direct file system that allows many juveniles to be unfairly tried as adults.

Rev. Lee Harris, Mt. Olive Primitive  Baptist Church, Jacksonville

“Too often, we find our children behind bars instead of the front rows of classrooms. Too often, those who have paid their debts to society are denied the right to vote. Too often, those who make mistakes are met with the most severe punishment. As a community of faith, we see this summit as a strategic first step in developing real solutions to the problems that plague Jacksonville communities.”
