Faith in Public Life CEO Calls for Prayer & Inclusion in the Wake of Orlando Shooting

Washington, D.C. -- At least 50 people were killed and more than 50 others wounded after a gunman opened fire and took hostages at a club in Orlando, Florida, early Sunday morning. In light of this tragedy, Faith in Public Life has released the following statement.

Rev. Jennifer Butler, CEO of Faith in Public Life:

My sincerest prayers and heart-felt condolences go out to the victims who were senselessly slain in an Orlando nightclub. Those of us who believe in both God and equality have a moral responsibility to honor the memory of those lost in this tragedy by condemning language and legislation rooted in bigotry and hate. If people of faith remain silent, progress will never come. As we mourn this act of violence, let us all remember that we are called to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
