National Faith Leader Condemns Supreme Court’s Contraceptive

Coverage Decision

Washington, D.C. -- The Supreme Court upheld a Trump administration rule exempting employers with religious or moral objections from providing contraceptive coverage to their employees under the Affordable Care Act.

Rev. Jennifer Butler, CEO of Faith in Public Life:

“Today the Supreme Court attacked women’s health, dignity and freedom. Their decision to exempt employers with religious or moral objections from providing access to cost-free contraceptive coverage is harmful and immoral. The health care decisions of women should remain between them and their doctors.

While some judges and sexist employers might not trust women, God does. Women launched the biblical Exodus and dared to bring a savior into the world that would cast tyrants off their thrones. We will pray and work for a day when all policymakers honor the moral agency of women to make decisions about their health and their families.”
