Among white evangelical Protestants, 18% think torture can often be justified, 44% think it can sometimes be justified, 17% think it can rarely be justified, and 16% think it can never be justified.
Among white non-Hispanic Catholics, 19% think torture can often be justified, 32% think it can sometimes be justified, 27% can rarely be justified, and 20% can never be justified.
Among white mainline Protestants, 15% think torture can often be justified, 31% think it can sometimes be justified, 22% think it can rarely be justified, and 31% think it can never be justified.
