The Rev. J. Brent Walker, both an ordained minister and a member of the Supreme Court Bar, is Executive Director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty (BJC). The BJC works to further the Baptist heritage that champions the principle that religion must be freely exercised, neither advanced nor inhibited by government. A native of Charleston, W.Va., Walker left law firm life in 1986 to enter Southern Seminary, Louisville, Ky., where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. He pastored Richland Baptist Church in Falmouth, Ky., and routinely speaks in churches and denominational gatherings. Having taught 10 years as an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center, he has served as an adjunct professor at the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond since 2003. Walker has been published widely and routinely provides commentary on church-state issues in the national media.
