Rabbi Richard A. Block is Senior Rabbi of The Temple-Tifereth Israel in Beachwood, Ohio. In May 2006, he co-chaired the launch press conference for We Believe Ohio –Cleveland, a clergy-led movement dedicated to uniting diverse religious voices to achieve social justice. Rabbi Block has served synagogues in Connecticut, California and Ohio since 1982. His community leadership includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland and as chair of its PACT Committee, which oversees Federation-sponsored programs for Ethiopian immigrants to Israel. Rabbi Block is the past president of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, the world’s largest organization of religiously affiliated Jews. Prior to his rabbinical studies, Rabbi Block graduated with honors from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Yale Law School. He is the author of numerous publications.
