Notre Dame Faculty: Bishop Jenky Should Apologize or Resign from University Board

April 23, 2012, 2:40 pm | Posted by Nick Sementelli

In response to Catholic Bishop Daniel Jenky’s offensive comparison of President Obama to Hitler and Stalin in a recent homily, almost 50 Notre Dame faculty members have signed a letter demanding the Bishop renounce his comments or resign from the University’s Board of Fellows on which he serves.

The letter is addressed to Notre Dame President Fr. John Jenkins and Board of Trustees Chair Richard Notebaert and asks them to “issue a statement on behalf of the University that will definitively distance Notre Dame from Jenky’s incendiary statement.”

The faculty letter comes on the heels of Faithful America’s similar petition demanding an apology from Bishop Jenky; that petition has already garnered more than13,600 signatures.
