America’s Next Top Faith Voice Nominees: Rev. Byron Williams

July 5, 2011, 10:50 am | Posted by Nick Sementelli

Faithful America is holding a competition to find America’s Next Top Faith Voice. We’ll be profiling our six finalists here on the blog. Candidates were asked to submit a video responding to this Karen Tumulty article on Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition Conference last month. You can view all of the candidates and cast your vote here.

Byron Williams serves as pastor of Resurrection Community Church in Oakland, California. Rev. Williams sees morality not just as a private question, but as a public one about how we collectively engage and treat each other.

Rev. Williams believes that modern political conversation ignores “the least of these in society. They are the ones who feel the brunt of economic downturns more acutely and they are also the ones wrongly cited as the culprit when seeking superficial responses to said challenges. People of faith are best positioned to be a part of the solution as long as we authentically maintain the courage of the faith tradition held.”
